It is 2002, and Larry Coryell is just coming out of his second straight-ahead jazz phase.
Joined by Paul Wertico and Marc Egan, the Larry Coryell Trio is formed, and would carry into 2004.
The trio would release two records in 2003 and 2004 respectively, The Power Trio (Live in Chicago) and Tricycles.
Larry Coryell performs tunes from recent releases and a few old favorites, ending with his staple closer, "The Dragon Gate".
Although Coryell was still performing jazz music, this new trio boasted a bit more edge to it, prompting Coryell to revisit greasier roots down the line with the 2005 Electric release, playing alongside Lenny White and Victor Bailey.
